Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is a veteran politician from Matara district, Sri Lanka. Currently serving as the vice-chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom party, he is also the UPFA chief organiser for Weligama electorate. During his terms he has served as the minister of Agriculture, Parliamentary Affairs, Cultural Affairs & National Heritage.
PROVINCIAL COUNCIL
Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena served two terms as the Chief minster of the southern province, before entering the parliament. During these terms, he has been influencial in developing the infrastructure of the southern province, specially his home town Matara.
2015 - GENERAL ELECTION
Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is currently contesting for the upcoming general election in Sri Lanka which will be held on 17th August, 2015. He believes in the political phioshopy of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and has been actively invlovled in the UPFA campaign during the past few months.
